Hello and welcome to my website!

I’m Yurieli Otero-Asmar, an illustrator from Dorado, Puerto Rico. I obtained my MA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). I create art for Middle Grade, Young Adult, and Kidlit books, combining my passion for reading and art. I love to create beautiful illustrations with magical and fantastical elements, mostly focusing on Latine and POC representation.

My BA in Psychology greatly influences my perspective and work, which is why, through my illustrations, I wish to represent how people are formed by their rich life experiences and diverse stories. Fascinated by the power of books and illustrations to influence, teach, and inspire, I hope my illustrations compel young readers to not only pick up books from the shelves but also transport them through new worlds and experiences.
